Breckenridge, a ski resort in Colorado popular with British holidaymakers, now allows people to smoke marijuana without fear of arrest. Under a new law voted in by local residents, it will be legal for anyone aged over 21 to possess up to an ounce of marijuana.
Drugs paraphernalia such as giant cigarette rolling papers, small pipes and bongs will also be allowed in the resort, which already has a reputation for a lively nightlife.

Authorities in Ohio say a store employee found the head of a lamb inside a microwave oven on display at an Ikea home furnishings showroom.
Police in the Cincinnati suburb of West Chester say they believe the discovery on December 16 was the result of a prank. By the time officers arrived, store employees had already disposed of the head.
An Ikea spokeswoman says the small lamb's head was removed quickly and the kitchen products display area was thoroughly cleaned.

A WATER Police officer dived into Port Phillip Bay to save a woman and then promptly arrested her for allegedly stealing a boat from the St Kilda Marina.
The drama began at around 11am when a fisheries officer saw a boat run aground off Williamstown.
He recognised the vessel as belonging to a fisherman and made contact with the owner.
The boat had allegedly been stolen from the St Kilda Marina on last night.
Water Police called to the scene saw a woman struggling in the water about 500m from shore, and senior Constable Andrew Folley dived in to save her.

SOUTH Korean police have arrested a man who faked his own death - and cremation - to secure insurance payouts totalling 1.8 billion won ($1.5 million).
Police said a man surnamed Chung, 51 and his wife, Ahn, 49, hatched the scheme after their business in Indonesia ran into trouble.
The wife made life insurance claims to six Korean companies after reporting that her husband had died in a motorcycle accident on Batam island in Indonesia.
The Korea Times said the couple bribed Indonesian doctors to supply a death certificate and submitted it to the Korean embassy in Jakarta

A priest who advised poor people to shoplift was showered with a bucket of pasta for making the remarks, the Church of England confirmed today.
The Rev Tim Jones, from St Lawrence and St Hilda in York, attracted harsh words earlier this month from the police and a former archbishop of Canterbury for telling his congregation it was acceptable for the needy to steal to feed their families.
But there came a very different rebuke last weekend, when a man approached the priest outside the church and threw 30 tins worth of ravioli and spaghetti on him. The contents of the bucket may well have been inspired by Jones himself, who said he would "rather that people take an 80p can of ravioli rather than turn to some of the most appalling things".

PROSPECT, Conn. — A grieving family learned their 95-year-old great-grandmother had been cremated when they found a stranger's body in her casket, and a Connecticut funeral home is being investigated in the incident.
Relatives of Aurelie Tuccillo noticed the wrong body when they arrived at the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home in Prospect for calling hours Tuesday night.
Police said Wednesday that state and local officers found Tuccillo had "inadvertently been cremated."
