ANTI-TERROR police grounded a flight after a man had a pack of matches on a plane, which he claimed were for cleaning his ears.
Police grounded the he Air India flight to Bangkok last week after they found the pack of matches on Rashid Rehman, who claimed he used them instead of Q-tips to dig the dirt out of his ears, the Croatian Times reports
The 30-year-old man told police he didn't use the cotton buds because he could get matches for free at bars and restaurants.

China could end a centuries-old custom and remove dogs and cats from the menu in the nation’s first draft law against animal abuse.

Anyone caught eating them would face a fine of as much as 5,000 yuan (£450) and up to 15 days in jail if the law is passed.
The draft is expected to be sent to the parliament, the National People’s Congress, in April, state media said.
Dog is an age-old delicacy. Its meat is believed to have warming properties making it particularly favoured as a winter dish. Consumption of dog meat – known euphemistically as “fragrant meat” – is most widespread in northeastern China where temperatures plunge in the winter months. But restaurants with signs out offering “fragrant meat’ can be seen in almost every city in China.

Doctors in Peru mistakenly amputated the wrong foot of an 86-year-old man, then had no choice but to cut off the other one as well to keep an infection from spreading, relatives and officials said Monday.
"It was a terrible shock when I lifted up the sheets and saw they had amputated his left foot," the patient's daughter, Carmen Villanueva, told RPP radio.
She said doctors in the port city of Callao had been attending to an ulcer on Jorge Villanueva's right foot since Jan. 4.

A Roman Catholic priest was accused of shoplifting butter and a sofa cover at a Wal-Mart in southern Illinois. Police arrested 41-year-old the Rev. Steven Poole on Friday. He's charged with two felony theft counts. Investigators said Poole failed to scan a $3.22 container of butter and a $60 sofa cover at a self-checkout. Poole then allegedly went to the store's bedding section, picked up a memory foam mattress and switched the pricing bar code. That caused the $145 item to be scanned for $31.

As the lid of his coffin was about to be sealed, Josef Guzy’s grieving widow made one last request for her late husband’s necklace.
The 76-year-old Polish beekeeper had collapsed earlier in the day and been pronounced dead at the scene by a doctor.
When the undertaker reached into the coffin for the last time, he thought that he detected a faint pulse. On closer inspection, Mr Guzy was still breathing.
The same ambulance that had been called to the pensioner’s home near the southern city of Katowice and found no sign of life now raced to the undertakers to discover that their patient was still alive.
