A FORMER Sunday school teacher, and possibly Australia's oldest hoon driver, says he only drove at 160km/h because he fell asleep.
Farmer and former Sunday school teacher Ron Bell, 80, said his life had been destroyed by his reckless driving last July and he can no longer go to bowls or church.
He was given a suspended driving sentence.
The octogenarian drove at nearly 160km/h for 23km in a 100km/h zone in north-western Victoria while being pursued by police, the Horsham Magistrates Court was told yesterday.

HEADLINE: Short and sweet - monkeys keep their chat concise, scientists find
SOURCE LINK: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/8479170.stm

Monkeys avoid long-winded chatter, preferring to keep it brief, a new study suggests.
Scientists found that macaques use short calls far more often than lengthier vocalisations.
Humans also do this: the words that we use most often, such as "a", "of" and "the", do not take long to say.
The fact that we both share this vocal trait could shed more light on the origin of human language, the team writes in the journal Biology Letters.
The relationship between the length of a word and how often it is used is described by the "law of brevity".

HEADLINE: California School District Bans Dictionary Over 'Oral Sex' Definition
SOURCE LINK: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,584010,00.html

A California school district has added a new book to the controversial list of literature that is considered unfit for young eyes.
It's the dictionary.
The Golden State's Menifee Union School District has yanked all copies of Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary from its shelves and is investigating the classic American text for containing "age-inappropriate" words.
The trouble started when an inquisitive student got lost somewhere between "oralism" and "orang" and found a rather recent entry to the lexicon: "oral sex," a phrase that has been in common parlance since 1973 but still makes many parents fairly hot under the collar.

Kubus was caught by wildlife officials at Christchurch International Airport on South Island in December, about to board an overseas flight with 44 geckos and skinks in a hand-sewn package concealed in his underwear.

POLICE were forced to fine one of three men who accepted a dare to take a nude train ride as part of a bet with a group of young women.
The three men in Moscow stripped and boarded a train at the city's Novogireyevo station shortly after midnight Sunday, RIA Novosti reported Monday.
"A police detail met them at the next station, Perovo, but only managed to detain one man, as the two others got into a train and escaped," a city police spokesman said.
"The detained 20-year-old Muscovite confessed that he and his friends bet with their acquaintances, young women, that they would go on a ride in the subway naked," he said. "The girls were waiting for them at the Perovo station."
