AUTHORITIES say they have disrupted a global drug ring after arresting a 21-year-old Malaysian man at Sydney airport over a 14kg heroin haul.
The man was arrested by officers from the Joint Asian Crime Group (JACG) yesterday as he was about to board an international flight.

Officers charged the man with the possession and supply of a large commercial quantity of a prohibited drug, which was tested and found to be high-quality heroin.

The investigation began last month following the arrest of two Singaporeans for the same offences.

Australian Federal Police Assistant Commissioner Tim Morris said the arrest showed the value of cooperation between crime fighting agencies.

Two of the children are eight years old, one is six and another is four.

Police said the age of the fifth child, who was the oldest in the group, was yet to be determined.

Officers took the children home and reports were made to the office of NT Families and Children.
