A last-minute shopper who lost a wallet stuffed with $5,000 in cash at Bloomingdale's got a Christmas present he'll never forget when an honest couple returned the billfold with every last dollar.
The happy return ended a miserable ordeal for Robert Slatkin, who was certain the wallet was gone for good in the frenetic sea of tourists and holiday shoppers Wednesday evening.
Slatkin was buying a shirt from the Armani section in the venerable department store at 4:30 p.m. when he noticed his wallet was missing.

AUSSIE rockers AC/DC could have to cancel a sold-out concert because their big sound poses a danger to rare birds.
Animal rights campaigners are threatening legal action if the veteran band goes ahead with a gig planned for Wels airport in Austria in May.
Han Uhl of BirdLife said birds nesting in the area at the time would be threatened by anthems such as Highway To Hell and You Shook Me All Night Long.
"The second biggest colony of curlews in Upper Austria and various other ground-nesting birds must not become endangered," Mr Uhl said, The Daily Telegraph reports.

As Christmas grew near, Gina Wilken was growing frantic. She had no money for gifts and five young children eagerly awaiting Santa.
She contacted the Salvation Army, Toys for Tots and other agencies, but the application deadline had passed weeks earlier. So she sat down at a computer and placed an ad on Craigslist.
"Hi, my name is Gina and I am a mother of 5 beautiful children," she wrote. "... This year has been extremely difficult for us financially ... and we are worried because we cannot afford Christmas presents for our children. I feel very uncomfortable even asking ... but I am desperate for help."...

A living nativity scene in near the Colorado ski resort of Vail almost had to go without two crucial actors when two donkeys escaped.
The nativity scene is an annual tradition for Eagle River Presbyterian Church in the Vail Valley. Pastor Rob Wilson says two borrowed donkeys were being held in a fenced-in pen for the event Wednesday night, but the animals pushed their way through it, the Vail Daily reports.
A church member who stopped by the church Wednesday morning noticed the donkeys were gone. He and a sheriff's deputy followed footprints in the snow and eventually caught up with them
