It's a nightmarish scenario straight out of the movies: A passenger is forced to land a plane after its pilot becomes incapacitated. But it became a reality for a passenger on board a plane over Florida on Sunday, and for the air traffic controllers who helped him land safely in what the National Air Traffic Controllers'

The unnamed couple, a 28-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman, were caught in the act late on Easter Sunday by traffic police on the E18 highway, some 25 miles west of Oslo.

Officers who clocked the couple's silver Mazda 323 racing at 133 kilometres per hour in a 100 zone realised they were doing more than just breaking the speed limit, police told AFP.

It was veering from one side to the other because the woman was sitting on the man's lap while he was driving and doing the act, shall we say," said Tor Stein Hagen, a superintendent with Soendre Buskerund district police.

"He couldn't see much because her back was in the way," he added.

"Why they did it on a highway with such a high risk we don't know."

After following the couple for nearly a kilometre, officers pulled the car over at a service station.

"We have taken away his driving licence because of the danger that he caused," Mr Hagen said.

HILLSBORO, Ore. — A scary situation turned into a strange one when a bomb squad determined that a suspicious package left outside the Washington County Sheriff's Office contained a prosthetic leg.

Sheriff's Sgt. Vance Stimler said deputies called the Portland bomb squad out to Hillsboro Sunday afternoon after noticing a canvas bag with a cylinder-shaped object sticking out.

With the help of a robot, the bomb squad quickly discovered the object was not an explosive.

MADISON, Wisconsin — If you are a female about 5 feet 8 inches tall, 140 pounds and willing to stick your head in a toilet, a prosecutor wants your help in proving a high-profile homicide case.

Al Moustakis, the district attorney in Vilas County, in northern Wisconsin, plans to recruit volunteers for a second round of controversial tests designed to prove that a woman was drowned by her husband in a toilet — and didn't commit suicide as he claims.

The experiments involve positioning women the size of the late Genell Plude of Land O' Lakes at a toilet to determine whether the version of events told by her husband, Douglas Plude, is plausible.

Defense lawyers say it's junk science.

FLINT, Mich. — Authorities in Michigan say a man fathered 14 children with different women and owes more than $530,000 in unpaid child support.

The Flint Journal reports 42-year-old Thomas Frazier was jailed Thursday. Court records say he owes six years of support payments.

The newspaper says the unemployed man could be held for 90 days if he doesn't pay $27,900.

Frazier says he thinks he fathered only three of the children and that it's unrealistic for authorities to expect him to pay child support that was $3,000 a month at one point.

THE GOVERNMENT should lift a ban on sex industry job advertisements, according to advocates.

Michelle, who operates one of the Northern Territory's biggest escort services, said the Federal Government ban on advertising work in the "adult retail industry" was unfair.

The Government is spending $4 billion on creating jobs.

Australian Sex Party convenor Fiona Patten said escort agencies and brothels "couldn't even advertise for a cleaner or an accountant" through government offices, the NT News reports.

Michelle said the ban should be lifted, even though she had doubts about luring women into the sex industry.

"As the operator of an escort agency, I agree," she said.

"But as a mother, I have my doubts."

She said "girls" had trouble getting out of the sex business because the money was so good.
Courier Mail, 26 Feb 2009 "Girls earning $500 a night find it hard to go back to a job paying $500 a week.

"It's shocking hours and you have to put up with a lot of crap, but it's still worth it.
