Mr Bates, a self-employed builder from Gloucestershire, southwest England, snapped after his wife Donna on got on his nerves while she was watching television and he decided to place the ad as a joke.

"She was nagging me for doing something small, while she was watching some rubbish on TV. So I just thought I'd put an ad in to get rid of her.

24 Drinking Arrests at Home of Miss Connecticut Outstanding Teen, MADD Volunteer
The reigning Miss Connecticut Outstanding Teen, a volunteer for Mothers Against Drunk Driving, held a party that resulted in two dozen people being charged with underage drinking, police said Wednesday.

Rachael Ramonas, 17, once organized a benefit for the families of friends killed in a car crash in which the teen behind the wheel had a history of drunken driving, according to the Web site of Miss America's Outstanding Teen.

It's not clear whether Ramonas, who competed in the Miss America Outstanding Teen pageant in August in Florida, was among those charged. Police are not releasing the teens' names because they are juveniles, and no teens are charged with drunken driving.

Ramonas, a high school senior, is an honor and AP student, according to the Web site of Miss America's Outstanding Teen.

A NUDIST club near Washington is offering to bail out people stuck for accommodation during next week's inauguration of president-elect Barack Obama.

You have to get naked.

Certainly, that's only to be expected at a nudist club, and, this being the dead of winter, you do not have to stay naked all the time.

Staff at the Pinetree Club near Annapolis, Maryland, will break you in gently to the idea of being in the buff.

"People who aren't members of the International Naturist Federation or the American Association for Nude Recreation have to go on a 30-minute tour of the facilities," Patrick Sokoloski, the manager of the Pinetree Club, set in a wooded park 56km east of Washington...

"It was massive. Its head was like 2m wide. It just seemed so big," she said.

"I remember it grabbing my leg and I just started screaming for Syb . . . and then all of a sudden I turned around and he was right behind me."

As the 5m great white shook Hannah "like a rag doll", Mr Mundy paddled into the boiling red surf and punched the shark repeatedly until it released the teenager from its jaws.

"I'm just glad the shark didn't like me and spat me back out," Hannah said.

One of Europe’s most famous nudist colonies has become the subject of an unusual investigation by French detectives after the destruction of three nightclubs in fires blamed on naturist "hardliners."

The normally peaceful Cap d’Agde, a magnet for nudists in the south of France, has been plunged into anxiety as investigators suspect "fundamentalist" nudists of harboring a grudge against the échangistes, or swingers, who are drawn to the town by the promise of sex.
